Underwood Typewriter Company Crate Item # F5673

Circa 1915

Just as clever and carefully designed as the Underwood Typewriter itself comes this fantastically preserved shipping crate. Heavy and hardworking, typing machines were shipped all around the country in these sturdily built crates, although very few examples of them have survived to today. This model serves as both container and billboard, with some really fun graphics, mottoes, and announcements burned into the wood on the sides. Our favorite: "Underwood: The Machine You Will Eventually Buy." A great piece of early industrial history, package design, and helpful for home storage, too!

  • Historical Style: Industrial
  • Condition notes: Wonderful vintage condition with jute rope handles and very sturdy construction.
