Framed Oregon Surveyor's Map Item # F8260

Circa 1861

Presented here, newly framed and matted, is a relic of Oregon history. Printed based on findings from an 1861 surveyor's trip, this map was clearly folded and unfolded countless time – proof that this map was used and depended upon during its life.

Oregon achieved statehood in 1859, and even though Lewis and Clark had made their historic journey through the territory some 50 years earlier, much was still being charted by 1861 (at least by the recently-arrived white settlers). The map was produced and distributed by the Oregon Surveyor General, whose signature was also printed on upper right-hand corner of the map.

Framed in new wood moulding with a double mat and UV protective plexi-glass.
