Gorgeous Vintage Windmill Blade Quilt w/ 19th Century Fabrics Item # F8441
Hand selected on a recent trip to Texas, this beautifully preserved quilt features several traditional techniques and patterns, including the coveted Windmill Blade motif. Each blade of the stars, or windmills, feature bars of different fabrics and while the piece is believed to have been assembled in the 1920s, most of the fabrics are much older than that. Several pieces date from before the Civil War, and many of the patterns indicate they are mid to late-19th century. Truly an heirloom work of art, the scraps were likely saved by one family for generations before the quilt was pieced together. The piece is backed with a blue patterned fabric, which is well-preserved and intact. A nice, lightweight quilt, ideal for a wall piece or a summer coverlet.
- Historical Style: Traditional
- Condition Notes: Nicely intact with some rub and wear along the edges. A small stain can be seen on one of the upper stars on the front and on the back in the final picture, but overall this quilt is in superb condition, with vibrant saturated colors.
