Framed Forest Fire Painting Item # F8464

Circa 1920s

Stirring and dramatic, forest fires became a popular theme for landscape artists following the reception of Denisov-Uralsky's work "A Forest Fire," which was shown at the Russian pavilion during the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. This rendition borrows heavily from Denisov-Uralsky's work, with a central column of red-hot fire, a fallen tree and smoke and clouds on either side. The piece has clearly been restretched more than once, with creases forming an internal margin. Framed with a new solid wood moulding.

  • Historical style: Traditional
  • Condition Notes: Some loss and wear in the original oil paint.
