Old Oaken Bucket Needle Point w/ Black Forest Frame Item # F8629

Circa 1930s

Perhaps this needle point is to commemorate the annual meeting of the Indiana and Purdue collegiate football teams. The trophy is known as the Old Oaken Bucket – and it is still presented to the winner of the competition today! Even if not, the charming subject matter and the fanciful organic letter forms are certainly endearing.

This hand-completed needle point is outfitted with its original carved Black Forest frame, featuring incised patterns and a dark stain.

  • Historical Style: Traditional
  • Condition Notes: Some stains in the needle point fabric – all commensurate with age and use. One piece of an appliqué on the frame has broken off and is absent.
