Pair of Stunning Fritz Hansen Ax Armchairs c1950s Item # F9420
Before you sits a pair of stunning "Ax" armchairs, which, inspired by the works of Charles and Ray Eames, were designed by Peter Hvidt and Olga Mølgaard-Nielsen for Fritz Hansen of Denmark in 1950. Easily the most influential result of the Hvidt/Mølgaard-Nielsen partnership, the Ax chair was featured in the MoMA exhibit on "Good Design" in 1951.
Composed of bent and molded wood (beech and teak in this iteration), the forms are fluid, yet symmetrical - a feat all good mid-century design accomplishes. Sold as a pair, and most suitable as comfortable lounge chairs in a living room or bedroom.
- Historical Style: Mid-Century
- Condition notes: Wonderful vintage condition with some slight wear in the wood and finish - see all photos for details.
