Framed Pulp Novel of Fantastic Mysteries: Captain Sparrow Item # G3141
Perhaps as under-appreciated as Penny Dreadfuls, their 19th century predecessor, Pulp novels were maligned as overt, sensational and fringe. This Fantastic Mystery, which includes the titles The Island of Captain Sparrow and the hugely influential story The Willows (1907), by Algernon Blackwood, a landmark story in the Weird/Horror genre and considered by H.P. Lovecraft to be the finest supernatural tale in the English language. This issue was released in April of 1946.
We have left the pulp in its original form, choosing to shadow-box frame it, rather than separate the cover from book. This allows the viewer to enjoy the aged spine and pages, along with the wonderful arts.
- Historical Style: Mid-Century *Condition notes: Well-worn, but protected under acid-free matting and UV-blocking plexiglass.
