Magnolia Tulip Art-Glass Shade Item # B1907
Our art-glass shades are made by a small, family-owned glassmaking company in California that uses the same techniques that Tiffany, Steuben, and Quezal employed from about 1900 to the mid 1920's.
This "tulip" begins as a clump of gold and white glass. It's rolled in a round wood block, blown into a mold, shaped, and opened on each end. The glassblower dimples the bottom lip with a fluting mold, and spins thin strips of green glass onto the hot glass surface. A knife dragged across the strips creates the feather pattern, and a tin chloride misting provides its iridescent finish.
- 2-1/4" fitter
- As with all handblown glass, individual variations will occur
Due to their delicate nature, these shades should be lit with 60W (or lower) bulbs only.
These shades are very narrow, and only some bulbs will fit inside them. Use a rubber-gripped gardening glove while changing bulbs to make handling easier.
