Radio Lamp with Hand Tinted Crater Lake Photo C1940s Item # R2760
When technology became common place in the 1930's and '40's, consumers were afraid that the low glow emitting from radios and televisions would damage their eye sight. So, charming Radio and Television Lamps like this one became popular, adding a little more light to the room and often serving the dual purpose of decorating the otherwise "homely" technology. This little number mimics the screen it would have sat above, featuring a Deco-style frame surrounding a hand-tinted photograph. The image depicts one of our National Parks, the stunning Crater Lake. We believe the photograph is original to the lamp and dates from the 1940's.
