Almost a Large Panton "Moon" Pendant Item # R2979
From our "close but no cigar" department comes this curious fixture. At first glance, it looks like a highly coveted 18" Verner Panton "Moon" light, which the Danish lighting master introduced in 1960. Featuring ten concentric rings in diminishing diameters, the construction can be "fanned" out to create the compelling spherical look shown (or a more chaotic arrangement as seen in the other photos).
However, the details are off on this one, with the wrong loop and finial, and chain rather than cord. Perhaps this is someone's reconstruction from original parts, or maybe it is a straight-up knock off – we couldn't say. Pedigree aside, it still looks great.
- Historical Style: Mid-Century
- Notes: outer 2 circles are slightly out of round
