Bronze Classical Revival Flush Mount by Caldwell c1905 Item # R4159
Exposed bulbs were widely popular lighting choices during the 1910's and '20's, and so was a free exploration of Classical Revival motifs. That style teamed for a high-end, yet traditional look, which was well-suited for the countless houses built during the period. Flush mount lights like this one were great for all the lower-ceiling'ed upper levels of those homes, and were most often found in hallways or small bedrooms. This example, cast from brass, was distributed by E.F. Caldwell and really takes the acanthus leaf motif to a wonderful extreme. The beaded bulb covers are new reproductions of the type that would originally have been featured on this fixture. They are handmade for us one at a time by a wonderful Bay Area shop, and demonstrate remarkable craftsmanship.
- Historical Style: Classical Revival
- Notes: Beaded bulb covers are new
