Rococo Gas/Electric Chandelier W/Opalescent Shades Item # R4722
Exactly the type of exuberantly ornamental fixture that defines "fancy Victorian" for many, this lovely chandelier can perhaps be better appreciated now that more than 100 years have passed since its look when out of fashion. Designed in a style that would have been marketed as Rococo at the turn of the century (or possibly Louis XV), this wonderful fixture features finely executed brass castings and has been refinished in a new Matte Antique finish that has been hand-burnished. The four gas arms and four electric arms have been fitted with a hard-to-find set of matching scalloped blue swirl opalescent shades. Photographed with authentic carbon-filament bulbs exactly like the ones it would have originally used, this chandelier gives a good impression of how different (and "right") period fixtures and glass look when fitted with the bulbs they were designed for. Rare and exceptional.
- Historical Style: Late Victorian
- Notes: keyed socket innards are new
- Note: gas armbacks originally had Rococo leaf ornamentation that unfortunately was lost over the years.
- Bulbs not included.
