Progress Meridian Ball Pendant w/Jewels Item # R5035

Circa 1959

A fantastic pendant in the Meridian family from Progress. "Confetti" is what this popular late-mid-century motif of multiple random holes scattered across shades was often called (some refer to it as Swiss Cheese, but the romance just isn't there for us). We love the hard-to-find fixtures with this treatment, so you can imagine our delight when we got this pendant - and with colored jewels to boot! The design dates to the late 1950s.

As shown in a catalog by Progress in 1960, this design also features awhite perforated metal diffuser screen on the lower openings of the globe. Hinting at the more expressive Mod lighting to come in a few years, mid-century lights that allow for a touch of eclectic whimsy as fun to us as the high-end masterpieces.

  • Historical Style: Mid-Century Modern
