Woodward Machine Co. "Utilight" Task Lamp Item # R7111
Designed and patented by William H. Woodward, "Utilight" task and floor lamps were some of the finest and most reliable machinist's lights in the 1930's and '40's. This remarkable and well-maintained example features a few of Woodward's patented elements: a double reinforced cast aluminum shade, a round articulating "elbow" and an adjustable bracket, which allows the the light to bend and swivel in any direction. The unique bi-directional baseplate bracket allows the lamp to be mounted on a wall or on a work surface with equal ease. The green-painted finish of this example shows fantastic patina, worthy of its history and character, and this lamp will amply demonstrate functionally elegant American utility for years to come.
- Historical Style: Industrial
- Condition Notes: The weathered green paint only adds to the character and authenticity of this piece. The base mounting bracket has been partially cut and modified to mount on a machine, but is perfectly usable as it is now.
- Bulbs not included.
