Impactful 4-Light Chandelier w/ Verre de Soie shades Item # R7389
The 1920s saw the convergence of many popular Revival styles. Combined in countless ways, Deco, Classical, Colonial, et al, lights were ubiquitous in all types of houses – although some, like this one stand out from the crowd with the elevated castings and exceptional shades. The whole composition is brought to breathtaking heights by a set of four etched iridescent pinched shades, almost certainly made by Steuben, though we can't see their mark. This extraordinarily beautiful type of glass Steuben called Verre de Soie, meaning 'glass of silk'. This light might have hung in an entry, a stairway, a breakfast nook, or a bedroom.
- Historical Style: Classical Revival
- Condition Notes: Some pitting and wear in the original casting on the fixture. Updated with a new, matte antique finish. One of the shades has a small but significant chip in the fitter lip, concealed when the shade is installed.
