Compact Cast Brass Acanthus Leaf Flush Fixture by Caldwell Item # R7555

Circa 1905

Exposed bulbs were widely popular lighting choices during the early 1900s, and so was a free exploration of Classical Revival motifs. That style teamed for a high-end, yet traditional look, which was well-suited for the countless houses built during the period. Flush mount lights like this one were great for all the lower-ceiling'ed upper levels of those homes, and were most often found in hallways or small bedrooms. This example, cast from brass, was distributed by E.F. Caldwell and really takes the acanthus leaf motif to a wonderful extreme. The finish on this piece is perfectly aged, with spots of wear in the patina: most noticeably along the edges of the compact plates.

  • Historical Style: Classical Revival
  • In order to install, the 2-part canopy has to be disassembled.
  • Condition Notes: Lovely wear in the original brass finish – see all photos for details.
  • Bulbs not included.
