Petite Industrial Pendant w/ 2-Part Opaline Shade by Behrens Item # R7623

Circa 1920s

Found on a recent trip through Europe, this brass chain pendant was designed by Peter Behrens for AEG Siemens. It features a 2-part opaline shade, connected with a patinated brass ring and includes all of its original components.

Behrens is widely considered the first Industrial Designer in history, and his influence on modern design and architecture is far-reaching. Among his students are notable designers such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Adolf Meyer, Jean Kramer and the founder of the Bauhaus School, Walter Gropius.

  • Historical Style: Industrial
  • Condition Notes: Wonderfully patinated original finish, particularly on the canopy. There is a chip on the lip of one of the lens shades, which cannot be seen when the lens is installed.
  • Bulbs not included.
