Modern Wall Sconce by Sciolari for Lightolier Item # R8043

Circa 1976

The 1976 Lightolier catalog calls this the Mirage sconce, and promises that it will provide a "fantasy of reflections." Conceived by one of Modernism's great designers, Gaetano Sciolari, Lightolier produced the Mirage sconce to have "chunky cube shaped" shades, which cradled the bulbs to project the light outward. Any light that hit the back plate was reflected off the polished brass-plated finish, "multiplying images and changing patterns as light shifts and people move in the room."

  • Historical Style: Modern
  • Note: One shade has a small chip (see additional photos). Placing the chipped shade in the center of the light bar will conceal the chip from view
  • Bulbs not included.
