Japanned Copper Library Lamp by Faries Item # R8062

Circa 1920

Meant to shed light directly downward, this early-century Faries lamp would have been most commonly found atop an upright piano, on the highest shelf in a library or above a roll-top desk. The fixed bracket arm projects the head of the lamp forward, while the cylindrical visor ensures that light points down, rather than up into the onlookers' eyes. We love the combination of the brushed Japanned copper finish with the smooth slate counterweight, which holds the lamp firmly in place.
