Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our Equity Action Committee at Williams Sonoma Inc. was established in June 2020 to lead the implementation of our Equity Action Plan.

The purpose of the plan is to create a set of actions that will drive positive change in the fight against racial injustice.

We Are Committed To

  1. Supporting non-profit organizations that advocate for racial justice

We're donating to the NAACP, the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the National Urban League, and developing meaningful partnerships with them on issues focused on educational, social and economic equality.

  2. Increasing Black representation at all levels of our company

We're diversifying our workforce by partnering with Historically Black Colleges, Universities and Organizations to reach and foster Black talent. We're expanding our vendors and suppliers to include more Black-owned businesses and are collaborating with Black artists and designers.

  3. Reinforcing a culture of inclusion through awareness and education

We developed a company-wide education program covering bias, inclusion and cultural competence. We are commited to creating a safe, nurturing environment where associates and leaders invite diversity and foster inclusion, creating a platform for the Black experience to be heard.

Meet our partners

In our ongoing commitment to fight for positive change and racial justice, we've partnered with renowned non-profit organizations that support the advancement of African American and Black youth.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), founded in 1909, is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation.

We're partnering with NAACP on the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), a yearlong empowerment program designed to recruit, stimulate and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African American high school students.

How your donation helps

Invest in the critical work by making a donation and encourage your networks to also support NAACP Empowerment Programs' movement to develop young talent and ensure the wellbeing of Black communities.

The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment, equality, and social justice with 90 affiliates serving 300 communities, providing direct services to over 2 million people nationwide.

We're partnering with the National Urban League in support of Project Ready, a signature education program designed to prepare students for college, work, and life.

How your donation helps

Your support allows National Urban League to continue to expand their reach and provide services free of charge to individuals in need. Join us in empowering communities and changing lives today.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) has advanced the ideals of equity and opportunity for 48 years by leveling the playing field in higher education and the workplace.

JRF provides generous four-year scholarships and extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement. Since 1973, JRF has disbursed over $95 million in grants and direct support to 1,700 JRF Scholars. As part of our partnership with JRF, we're contributing to college scholarships through a four-year auxiliary program that helps JRF scholars effectively navigate their college environments and develop leaderships skills, while exploring career options and embracing commitment to service.

How your donation helps

Your donation will help promote equal opportunity and humanitarianism through scholarships, mentoring and leadership training — and help build the Jackie Robinson Museum.
