Five Piece Dining Set by Stickley Item # F8512
Firstly, the chairs are by Gustav Stickley, and the table is by L. & J.G. Stickley. While the chairs do not match the table, strictly speaking, they have been in use together for over 100 years, and we couldn't bear to break them up. This incredible set has lived in a cabin-style resort on an island in Puget Sound, Washington, since the early 1900s until very recently, and is extremely well-preserved. The finish is wholly original and untouched, and the chairs feature all their original leather and diamond upholstery nails. Most remarkable of all, the four leaves for the table are presented in their original oak carrying crate, which also bears the original Stickley label! While the chairs and table are the usual beautiful quartersawn oak, the leaves' carrying case is also oak, but not as figured (it wasn't meant for display, and was probably made from lower-grade oak and scraps in the factory). The set is complete with 3 side chairs, 1 arm chair, a table and 4 leaves.
The cushions of the chairs were somewhat stretched, but they have been restored to be solid, resilient and very comfortable, with new foam underneath and full proper treatment of the leather.
- Historical Style: Arts & Crafts
- Condition Notes: Wonderful wear in the original wood and finish with plenty of character and patina in the leather, as well. See all photos for details.
