This schoolhouse shade has something of a lesson behind it. It features a form called an ogee — two adjoined arcs that curve in opposite directions — that has been in use since antiquity. Ancient cultures, like Persia and Greece, recognized the inherent grace of the shape. While our shade may not be as old, it's still a classic.
