Opal glass shades like this are somewhat warmer in appearance than their etched-glass cousins. For example, the main difference between this shade and an Etched shade of similar design is that when opal glass is lit from within, the light bulb isn't visible.
Tips: Opal shades have a softening effect on bright incandescent bulbs, and also help tone down the intensity of compact fluorescent bulbs. When assembling several fixtures in one room, match glass finishes for consistency.
