Durable and fireproof, the Simmons Manufacturing Company was best known for making pressed steel furnishings in the most popular styles of the 1920s and 1930s. The steel furniture lines were designed for hospitals and hotels; those that survive today rarely maintain their original finish. This example retains its original painted finish and chromed knobs, showing just the right amount of surface rust, and has been clear coated to seal the surface and preserve patina.
